The Battle of the Cold

When we came home from Missouri last Monday, I brought a cold home with me as a souvenir. I think I caught it because I didn't take any of my supplements with me and my system was unprotected.
That being said, I was bound and determined to knock this one out using my Young Living essential oils and their supplements. How can I recommend them to others, if I can't honestly say they work for me? I hate taking OTC medications for colds and flu, and this time I had many other choices to work with.
Tuesday, I started increasing my morning Ninxia Red and made sure to take my supplements. I also took Dr. Millers Holy Tea for de-toxing. Being at work, my use of oils was limited, so I really started when I got home. I took 1 Inner Defense capsule,(it is a combination of oils that act like a natural antibiotic.) and used RC and Raven on my chest and face over my sinuses. Then at night I took 2 Life 5.( a probiotic to replenish the good bacteria in my tummy)
Wednesday's workday wasn't too bad. My symptoms were there and I was a little uncomfortable, yet nothing I couldn't handle. I did use some oils at work, and figured if anyone said anything, I would just say it's similar to vicks vaporub or bengay. (that's a whole another tangent, me & my oils against men and womens perfume and cologne!) When I got home, it was more of the same as Tuesday.
Thursday and Friday I was off from work, so I was able to slather oils on liberally. On my chest, my back and face. That really helped.
I did break down and use 2 doses of Sudafed, on Friday & Saturday nights. I was afraid that the coughing would start and I wouldn't be able to sleep. That is how my colds usually end, where it settles in my sinuses and you get the tickle cuz they're draining, and then constant cough. Now I am a bit upset that I caved so quickly, I think I would've been okay without.
Tomorrow will be a week since getting this, and I can say it's about gone. That in itself is amazing, my colds usually last between 10 and 14 days!
This battle is almost over, and I have learned alot. I know I can use natural means to get over a cold, and by not using over the counter drugs, the length of my cold is shorter, and my liver is happier! True, it might not be the quick fix many are used to,but I myself am learning to be patient and let nature work. (wow. coming from me that is really something!)
I do not mean to diagnose or prescribe anything. I am sharing what works for me.
Until my next ramble, take care. Fran
